Biography

Jean-Eric Vergne (25 April 1990 - Present): Born in Pontoise, France, Jean-Eric Serge Raymond Vergne, known by his initials JEV, is a French racing driver and two-time Formula E World Champion. Starting competitive karting at age four at his father's kart circuit near Paris, Vergne entered his first competition in 2000 and became French champion in the 'kids' category in 2001. A member of both the Red Bull Junior Team and the French Automobile Sport Federation (FFSA) from 2007, Vergne won the 2010 British Formula 3 Championship and finished runner-up to teammate Robert Wickens in the 2011 Formula Renault 3.5 Series.

He competed in Formula One for Scuderia Toro Rosso from 2012 to 2014, with his highest finish being sixth at the 2013 Canadian Grand Prix. After serving as Ferrari's test and development driver from 2015 to 2016, Vergne was unable to secure a full-time F1 drive for 2015 and switched to the FIA Formula E Championship, signing for Andretti Autosport. He became the 2017-18 ABB Formula E Champion with Techeetah, clinching the title with a race to spare in New York as the series' fourth different champion in four seasons. Vergne then won back-to-back championships, successfully defending his title in 2018-19 to become Formula E's first repeat champion, cementing his legacy as one of the most successful drivers in the all-electric championship's history.
