Biography

Jesús Ricardo Iglesias (22 February 1922 - 11 July 2005): Argentine racing driver from Pergamino who participated in one Formula One World Championship Grand Prix, the 1955 Argentine Grand Prix at Buenos Aires. He drove a privately-entered Maserati but failed to start the race due to mechanical issues. Iglesias was more successful in Argentine national motorsport throughout the 1950s and 1960s, competing in various Turismo Carretera and sports car races. He was part of the generation of Argentine drivers who helped establish motorsport in South America during the post-war period, competing alongside and against other Argentine talents like Juan Manuel Fangio and Carlos Menditeguy.

Though his Formula One career consisted of just one entry, Iglesias contributed significantly to the development of motorsport in Argentina and inspired future generations of South American racers.
