Joe Fry (October 26, 1915 - July 29, 1950): A British racing driver and member of the Fry’s chocolate family, Fry was known for his involvement with the "Freikaiserwagen," a hill climb special built by his cousin David Fry and Hugh Dunsterville. He set numerous hill climb records in the late 1930s and post-World War II period. Fry competed in the inaugural Formula One World Championship race, the 1950 British Grand Prix, driving a Maserati 4CL. Tragically, he died later that year during a hill climb event at Blandford.
