Race Summary
Sebastian Vettel continued his record-breaking winning streak with victory at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, leading a Red Bull one-two finish ahead of Mark Webber. Despite Webber starting from pole position, Vettel controlled the race from the front to secure his seventh consecutive victory, moving within two wins of Michael Schumacher's record for consecutive wins in a single season. Nico Rosberg completed the podium for Mercedes in what had become a familiar procession behind the dominant Red Bulls.
The race under Yas Marina's twilight setting provided little drama at the front as Vettel cruised to another comfortable victory. Webber's strong qualifying performance gave hope of a different result, but race pace once again favored his teammate. The Red Bull dominance was so complete that the real competition was for the final podium position, with Rosberg holding off Ferrari's challenge to secure third place for Mercedes.
Vettel's seventh straight win extended his incredible late-season form and set up a potential record-equaling performance in the United States. The victory also represented a continuation of Red Bull's technical excellence and strategic superiority. With the championship already secured and Vettel in the form of his life, the final two races of 2013 would determine whether he could break one of F1's most prestigious records - Schumacher's seven consecutive wins in 2004.
