British Racing Motors
1962
British Racing Motors was founded in 1945 to restore British pride in motorsport after World War II. Funded by British industry, BRM endured years of initial failure before finally achieving success in the 1960s. Graham Hill won the 1962 Drivers' Championship and BRM took the Constructors' title. The team remained competitive through the 1960s and early 1970s with drivers like Jackie Stewart and Pedro Rodriguez.
BRM was known for their innovative engineering, including the famous H16 engine, though this proved unreliable. Financial difficulties led to the team's withdrawal from F1 in 1977. BRM's history exemplifies both the glory and challenges of British motorsport.
