Tyrrell Racing Organisation
1971
Founded by Ken Tyrrell, the Tyrrell Racing Organisation was one of the most successful independent teams in Formula One history. The team achieved their greatest success in the early 1970s with Jackie Stewart, winning three Drivers' Championships (1969, 1971, 1973) and one Constructors' Championship (1971). Tyrrell was known for innovation, most famously with the six-wheeled P34 in 1976. The team continued as a competitive midfield runner through the 1980s and 1990s, launching the careers of drivers like Jean Alesi and Mika Salo.
British American Racing purchased Tyrrell in 1998, with the team competing its final season in 1998.
