Chico Serra (born February 3, 1957): Francisco Adolpho 'Chico' Serra is a Brazilian racing driver who achieved success on both the international and domestic racing stages. Serra first made his mark in international motorsport by winning the 1979 British Formula 3 Championship, following in the footsteps of his compatriot Nelson Piquet, who had won the title one year earlier. This success paved his way to Formula One, where he made his debut on March 15, 1981, at Long Beach alongside Keke Rosberg, driving for the Fittipaldi Automotive team and finishing seventh. Serra participated in 33 Formula One races between 1981 and 1983, qualifying for 18 of them while driving for Fittipaldi and Arrows.
His best result came at the 1982 Belgian Grand Prix, where he finished sixth and scored his only Formula One championship point. Despite limited success in Formula One, Serra's racing career flourished after leaving the sport. He returned to Brazil and became a dominant force in Brazilian stock car racing, a series he has competed in since the 1980s. Racing for WB Motorsport, Serra finally captured his first Stock Car Brasil championship in 1999, winning seven races in twenty starts with an Omega.
He successfully defended his title in 2000, taking six victories in fifteen races, and won again in 2001 with five wins in twelve races, competing in the latter two championships with a Vectra. Serra is the father of racing driver Daniel Serra, who has also won three Stock Car Brasil titles, continuing the family's racing legacy. Today, Chico Serra remains active in Brazilian motorsport, following his son's career and maintaining his status as one of Brazil's most successful touring car champions.
