Biography

Eugène Chaboud (April 12, 1907 - December 28, 1983): A French racing driver from Lyon, Chaboud began his motorsport career in the 1930s and continued through the early years of Formula One. He competed in two World Championship Grands Prix, making his debut at the 1950 French Grand Prix and returning for the 1951 French Grand Prix. Before Formula One, Chaboud was successful in endurance racing, winning the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1938 driving a Delahaye alongside Jean Trémoulet and René Dreyfus. He also set several speed records at Montlhéry and participated in various hill climbs and Grand Prix races in France.

His racing career spanned from the pre-war golden age of motorsport through the birth of the modern Formula One World Championship, making him a bridge between two distinct eras of racing history.
