Luiz Felipe de Oliveira Nasr (21 August 1992 - Present): Brazilian racing driver from Brasília, of Lebanese ancestry, who competed in Formula One from 2015 to 2016 with Sauber before finding extraordinary success in American sports car racing. Won the 2009 Formula BMW Europe championship at just 16 years of age with five wins, six poles, and 14 podiums in 16 races. Claimed the 2011 British Formula 3 Championship title with seven wins and 15 podiums over 30 races. After serving as Williams' test driver in 2014, joined Sauber as a full-time Formula One driver for 2015.
Made a stunning F1 debut at the 2015 Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne, finishing fifth and scoring 10 points for a team that had failed to register a single point the previous year—the best-ever debut finish for a Brazilian driver in Formula One history. Continued scoring throughout 2015, achieving points in China, Russia, Monaco, and Italy, finishing with 27 championship points and 13th in the Drivers' Championship. His second season in 2016 proved far more difficult with an uncompetitive Sauber, though his final notable F1 moment came at the 2016 Brazilian Grand Prix at Interlagos where Nasr finished ninth in an emotional home race, scoring Sauber's only points of the season. This crucial ninth-place finish lifted Sauber above Manor in the Constructors' Championship, securing millions in prize money and effectively dooming Manor to bankruptcy.
Replaced by Pascal Wehrlein for 2017, ending his F1 career after 39 starts with 27 career points. Transitioned to IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in 2018 with Whelen Engineering Racing, immediately winning the championship with co-driver Eric Curran in his debut season—a remarkable achievement. Won additional IMSA championships with compatriot Pipo Derani in 2021 and 2024, establishing himself as one of the series' dominant drivers. Named a Porsche factory driver in 2022, joining Porsche Penske Motorsport for the 2024 season.
Partnered with Dane Cameron in the No. 7 Porsche 963, winning the season-opening 24 Hours of Daytona and the 6 Hours of The Glen. Clinched his fourth IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in 2024, taking top honors in the GTP driver, team, and manufacturer categories—marking Porsche Penske Motorsport's inaugural IMSA title. Nasr's post-F1 success in sports car racing has far exceeded his Formula One achievements, proving his exceptional talent thrives with competitive machinery.
