Biography

Paul Alexandre Belmondo (April 23, 1963 - Present): French racing driver, son of actor Jean-Paul Belmondo and grandson of sculptor Paul Belmondo. Started racing karts in 1979, winning the 1981 Yamaha Karting Challenge. Won the 1982 Volant Elf Series but had modest performances in French Formula racing from 1983-1986. Participated in Formula 3 and Formula 3000 in 1987, never finishing top 10 in either championship.

Joined March F1 as a paying driver in 1992, qualifying for five of eleven races entered, with ninth at the Hungarian Grand Prix his best finish before running out of money and being replaced by Emanuele Naspetti. In 1994, joined the new Pacific Grand Prix team with an uncompetitive car, qualifying for only two races. Participated in 15 F1 attempts total, scoring no points. Switched to GT racing post-F1, competing in Chrysler Viper GTS-R and forming Paul Belmondo Racing in 1998 for Porsche Supercup, FIA GT Championship, and Le Mans Endurance Series.

Achieved victory at Homestead in 1999 with Emmanuel Clérico, beating works cars. Team closed in 2006 when Belmondo chose an acting career. Around 1981, gained publicity as lover of Princess Stéphanie of Monaco.
