Biography

Walter "Walt” Ader (December 15, 1913 - November 25, 1982) was an American racecar driver from Long Valley, New Jersey. He began his racing career in 1936, but it was interrupted by World War II. After the war, Ader competed in the AAA National Championship, achieving notable success, including a victory at the Atlanta 100 in 1947. He attempted to qualify for the Indianapolis 500 in 1947 and 1948 but did not succeed until 1950, when he finished 22nd in a rain-shortened race.

After retiring from racing, Ader served as a member of the Bernardsville volunteer fire department. He passed away in 1982 in Califon, New Jersey.
