Race Summary

Daniel Ricciardo delivered a performance for the ages to win the Monaco Grand Prix despite racing with severely reduced engine power for the final 50 laps. The Australian's victory in his Red Bull's home colors marked one of the most impressive drives in the race's storied history, as he held off Sebastian Vettel's faster Ferrari through sheer defensive brilliance and determination.

Ricciardo claimed pole position in qualifying and led the opening laps comfortably, but his race was transformed when he suffered an MGU-K failure that cost him 160 horsepower and left him nursing the damaged car around the tight street circuit. Despite the handicap, Ricciardo used Monaco's notoriously difficult overtaking characteristics to his advantage, positioning his car perfectly through every corner to deny Vettel any opportunity to pass. The Ferrari driver sat less than a second behind for most of the final stint but couldn't find a way through Ricciardo's defensive masterclass.

Vettel finished a frustrated second, knowing he had the faster car but unable to convert it into victory. Lewis Hamilton completed the podium in third for Mercedes, while teammate Max Verstappen set the fastest lap despite crashing heavily in qualifying and having to start from the back of the grid. The victory was Ricciardo's second career win at Monaco and his final one for Red Bull before his move to Renault. His heroic drive, completed while constantly managing his dying power unit, cemented his reputation as one of the grid's most talented racers and provided an unforgettable chapter in Monaco GP history.
