
William "Wild Bill" Cantrell (January 31, 1908 - January 22, 1996): An American powerboat and IndyCar driver, Bill Cantrell was born in West Point, Kentucky. He earned the nickname "Wild Bill" for his daring racing style. In 1949, Cantrell won the prestigious hydroplane Gold Cup in Detroit. He also competed in the Indianapolis 500, with entries in 1950 and 1952, though he did not achieve notable success in these races.
Cantrell was inducted into the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America in 1992 in the power boats category.
