Biography

Ingo Ott Hoffmann (28 February 1953 - Present): Brazilian racing driver from São Paulo who started competing in 1972 with a 1600cc VW Fuscão before winning both the São Paulo and Brazilian saloon car championship in Division 3 in 1973. He arrived in Europe in 1975 with a strong reputation from national Super Vee and saloon cars, with the highlight of his debut season in British Formula 3 being victory at Oulton Park with a March 753-Toyota. He participated in six Formula One Grands Prix, debuting on 25 January 1976, but was hindered by the financial problems of the Fittipaldi team. He entered four Grands Prix in 1976, failing to qualify for three, with an 11th place at Interlagos his best result.

In 1977 he competed at Buenos Aires (retired with engine failure) and finished seventh at Interlagos, two laps behind the winner, but that was his last F1 race as the second Fittipaldi entry was withdrawn. He scored no championship points. His Project Four Ralt RT1-BMW scored a succession of third-place finishes in Formula 2, finishing seventh in the 1977 European F2 Championship and sixth in 1978. Hoffmann has won the Brazilian Stock Car Championship a record 12 times (1980, 1985, 1989-1994, 1996-1998, and 2002), taking his 100th win in December 2006.
