Team History
Racing Point was created in 2019 when Lawrence Stroll's consortium purchased the Force India team out of administration. The team maintained Force India's pink BWT livery and continued their philosophy of efficient midfield racing. Racing Point's most controversial moment came in 2020 when they unveiled the RP20, a car closely resembling the 2019 Mercedes, earning it the nickname 'Pink Mercedes.' Despite controversy and penalties, Sergio Pérez won the 2020 Sakhir Grand Prix, the team's first victory.
At the end of 2020, Racing Point was rebranded as Aston Martin following additional investment by Lawrence Stroll.
