Team History

Super Aguri F1 was a Japanese Formula One team founded by former F1 driver Aguri Suzuki in 2006. Operating as Honda's de facto B-team with limited resources, Super Aguri exceeded expectations by occasionally scoring points and even challenging for top-10 finishes. The team gave Japanese drivers Takuma Sato and Yuji Ide opportunities in F1. Despite their fighting spirit and improvement in 2007, chronic underfunding forced Super Aguri to withdraw from F1 during the 2008 season.

The team's brief existence represented Japanese passion for Formula One and the challenges faced by small, underfunded teams trying to compete at F1's highest level.
