Biography

Jan Ellegaard Magnussen (4 July 1973 - Present): Danish racing driver from Roskilde. Dominated 1994 British F3 Championship with Paul Stewart Racing, earning comparisons to Ayrton Senna from Jackie Stewart, who called him 'the most talented young driver since Senna.' Made F1 debut replacing appendix-stricken Mika Häkkinen at 1995 Pacific GP for McLaren, qualifying 12th and finishing 10th in difficult MP4-10B-Mercedes, becoming one of few drivers with just one McLaren appearance. Raced for newly-founded Stewart Grand Prix (1997-1998) but underperformed against high expectations.

Scored only championship point with sixth at 1998 Canadian Grand Prix, becoming Denmark's first point-scorer in F1, finishing 17th in championship. Started 24 GPs from 25 entries; missed 1997 Brazilian GP restart after start-line accident. Replaced by Jos Verstappen mid-1998. Post-F1, found success in sports car racing, particularly with Corvette Racing. Father of former Haas F1 driver Kevin Magnussen, establishing racing family legacy.
