Zsolt Baumgartner (1 January 1981 - Present): Hungarian racing driver from Debrecen and son of a Renault dealer, who remains the only Hungarian driver to have competed in and scored points in Formula One. He started karting at age 13 and progressed through German Formula Ford, Formula Renault, German Formula 3, and Formula 3000. He made his F1 debut substituting for injured Ralph Firman at Jordan in the 2003 Hungarian Grand Prix, also competing in the Italian Grand Prix that year. After failing to agree terms with Jordan for 2004 despite MOL sponsorship backing, he signed with Minardi instead.
Baumgartner brought Minardi their first point since Australia 2002 when he finished eighth at Indianapolis in 2004, earning not only the first point for a Hungarian driver in Formula One but also the first for a driver from Eastern Europe. His F1 career comprised appearances in two races in 2003 and a full season with Minardi in 2004, achieving a historic milestone for Hungarian and Eastern European motorsport despite limited opportunities in uncompetitive machinery.
