Race Summary
Nigel Mansell made it three wins from three starts with another dominant victory at Interlagos, matching his 1991 predecessor Ayrton Senna's record of consecutive wins to open a season. The Englishman was in imperious form, controlling the Brazilian Grand Prix from pole position and never looking troubled as he extended his perfect championship start. Mansell's clinical performance demonstrated the complete synergy between driver and machine, with the FW14B responding perfectly to his inputs.
Riccardo Patrese secured yet another Williams one-two finish in second place, continuing his consistent if unspectacular season as Mansell's supporting act. The Italian was powerless to challenge his teammate's superiority but delivered solid points that helped Williams build an early constructors' championship lead. Michael Schumacher finished third for Benetton again, establishing himself as the best of the rest behind the dominant Williams duo.
The race was significant for highlighting just how far McLaren had fallen from their 1991 dominance, with Ayrton Senna struggling to keep pace with the Williams cars. Mansell's third consecutive victory from pole position established a new record and sent a clear message that Williams' technical superiority would make them virtually unbeatable throughout 1992.
