
Giedo Gijsbertus Gerrit van der Garde (25 April 1985 - Present): Dutch racing driver from Rhenen, Netherlands. Competed in Formula 1 for Caterham (2013), making 19 starts with no points scored. A 2002 Formula Super A Karting World Champion, van der Garde won the 2008 Formula Renault 3.5 Series and competed four seasons in GP2 with five wins. After serving as Caterham's reserve driver in 2012, he secured a race seat for 2013 alongside Charles Pic, achieving Caterham's highest qualifying position (P15) and first Q2 appearance at Monaco.
He joined Sauber as test driver for 2014, but a major controversy erupted when Sauber announced Marcus Ericsson and Felipe Nasr for 2015 despite van der Garde holding a contract. He won Court orders compelling Sauber to honor his contract at the 2015 Australian Grand Prix, but ultimately reached a settlement without racing. Post-F1, he won the 2016 European Le Mans Series with G-Drive Racing and retired in 2023 to become a full-time commentator for Viaplay.
