
Virginio 'Gino' Lugli Munaron (2 April 1928 - 22 November 2009): Italian racing driver from Turin born into a motorsport family—his father Ramiro participated in the 1903 Giro d'Italia and four Mille Miglia races. Munaron began racing in 1949 when he took part in the Aosta-Great St. Bernard in a CDMP Ford that he built with Paolo Cordero di Montezemolo. He raced with various marques including Alfa Romeo, Maserati, Topolino, Nardi, and Osca, achieving one of his biggest wins in the 1955 Hyères 12 Hours with a Scuderia Ferrari car.
He participated in four Formula One World Championship Grands Prix, debuting on 7 February 1960 as a privateer, first driving a Maserati and then a Ferrari-powered Cooper run by Scuderia Castellotti, but scored no championship points. After retiring from racing in 1961, Munaron became one of the founders of BMW Italia and worked as a sales director for TWR Italy from 1986.
