Robert Michael Doornbos (23 September 1981 - Present): Dutch racing driver from Rotterdam who competed with both Dutch and Monégasque racing licences in Formula One from 2005 to 2006. A former semi-professional tennis player at national level in the Netherlands, his interest in motorsport began after attending the 1998 Belgian Grand Prix as a WilliamsF1 guest. He joined Jordan Ford as Friday test driver in September 2004 at the Chinese Grand Prix, then replaced Patrick Friesacher at Minardi for the 2005 German Grand Prix onwards after Friesacher's sponsors defaulted, completing eight races with a best result of 13th in Turkey and Belgium. He became Minardi's last Formula One driver when Red Bull purchased the team before the Belgian Grand Prix.
Unable to secure a race drive for 2006, he was appointed Red Bull Racing's test and reserve driver by former F3000 boss Christian Horner, then promoted to race driver for the final three events alongside David Coulthard, replacing Christian Klien. After missing a 2007 F1 seat, he successfully debuted in Champ Car, finishing second in his first race, and currently works as an F1 analyst for Ziggo Sport.
